Ensuring Nursing Excellence

John Mason Jr., MD, literally welcomed generations of area residents into this world. By the time he retired from his Danville, Illinois, practice, the highly respected OB-GYN had delivered more than 10,000 babies. Now his generous estate gift will ensure future generations also benefit from his legacy of care. Upon his passing in 2020, funds from his IRA were donated to the Mason Family Nursing Scholarship, ensuring the ongoing success of a fund he established during his life. As part of the Carle Advancing Professional Excellence Nursing Scholarships, this gift will help nurses at Carle pursue their educational dreams, enhancing their skills and the care they provide. It's programs like these that have helped Carle become one of the few hospitals in the country to earn the Magnet designation for nursing excellence three times in a row.
